It’s the moment many staff, students and parents have been waiting for, a return to in-class learning.
Sherri-Lynn Pharand is the Director of Education for the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board, and she outlines what you can expect.
“There is hand sanitizer at all entrances and doorways. Students have specific entrances and doorways so that there are not large group of students entering in the same place at the same time.”
Pharand adds, “We will still be limiting visitors to our schools to essential visitors in order to minimize the number of people there.”
Brendan Hyatt is Director of Education for the Northwest Catholic District School Board and says kids will still have to follow last year’s health and safety measures.
“Signage for where and when to walk and reminders for students to be using hand hygiene and respiratory hygiene and all of those things will still be in place for students. We’re still in the height of this pandemic and we still need to keep health and safety protocols in place.”
Both school officials stress all facilities are up to date with required ventilation systems that have been inspected and approved.
There will be enhanced filtration in kindergarten classes at all schools.
A reminder you must complete the COVID self-assessment before leaving for school.
Both Pharand and Hyatt thank everyone for being so patient during the pandemic and having to adjust on the fly.
Meantime, motorists are advised to drive with extra caution today.
School buses are back on the road and will make frequent stops to pick up children, some first-time riders not fully familiar with the rules.
Many others will be walking to school and crossing streets.
