With just over a week to go, Dryden’s 4H Rare Steakout Beef Club is gearing up for the annual Market Beef Auction.
The Fall Fair kicks off Thursday August 26th, but the big day for the club is Friday the 27th with achievement day, the cattle show and the auction.
Member William Kriese has been part of the club for 6 years and says everyone is welcome to come out and watch.
“Members will be competing in showmanship, heifer and market steer classes. After the 4H class, the open show where everyone from our community and the surrounding areas will bring their animals to compete. Our auction is at 6pm Friday night, we’d love to have people come see the animals even if you don’t buy we’ll have some other fundraisers going on.”
Valerie Griffiths has been a member for 7 years and talks about the work that goes into raising a steer.
“We get these animals in December or January. Then it’s every single day twice a day going out there and feeding them, brushing them, spend hours training them. It’s a lot of time and effort that goes into getting them ready for the fair.”
Local calendars will be for sale and welcome sign wall hangings will up for silent auction bidding.
The 4H Milk Shake Booth will also be back August 26-28.
Club events start at noon Friday August 27th in the cattle ring with steers to be auctioned off stating at 6pm.
