The Municipality of Sioux Lookout wants to hear from you as it moves forward with a proposed waterfront pavilion and park area in Hudson.
The viewpoint would celebrate the community’s aviation and boating history.
An online survey is open until August 2 and residents are asked to provide feedback on the location, design, scope of the project as well additions and subtractions.
The planned spot is the 1st Street/2nd Avenue area.
Manager of Corporate Services Brian MacKinnon notes there are a lot of benefits to this location as it capitalizes on the amazing view corridor featuring Lost Lake and part of Lac Seul and its hallmark sunsets.
MacKinnon adds they want to build up the area to draw attention away from nearby industrial activity.
He stresses the possibilities are endless including a possible Tugboat, fire pit, a natural play area, historical artifacts, walkways, benches, and old photographs.
“We hope to showcase Hudson’s future. We hope to feature local wildflower, shrubs, and bee friendly plants. We really hope to offer a true lookout vantage point. We hope to celebrate the outdoors all year round.”
MacKinnon is encouraging the public to take part in the survey.
He outlines what happens after the August 2 deadline.
“We will review the responses and upgrade the design to incorporate that feedback. We will determine estimated costing for the project and then we will bring the project to Council for endorsement. Our goal is to have the project shovel ready for when funding opportunities arise.”
