There is now a network of vehicle charging stations across northwestern Ontario.
Ontario Power Generation and Hydro One have teamed up to set up the Ivy Charging Network.
Theresa Dekker is the co-president of Ivy and says they completed the network at Redden’s on Longbow Lake near Kenora.
“We spaced each location about 100 kilometers apart or so, and you can get 100 kilometers worth of charge in about 20 minutes or less from our stations depending on the range of your vehicle,” explains Dekker.
“You may need to make a pit stop in between, but we’ve spaced them out such that you could do that.”
Dekker says they now have electric vehicle charging stations from Thunder to Kenora.
“Making sure that the amenities at our stations are very good. People can access washrooms, food, those sorts of things. That way as they are getting a charge, they do have some amenities they can access.”
Dekker says the charging stations a suitable for most electric vehicles, including Tesla’s, if they have an adapter.
