More help is coming for Red Lake fire crews, as an evacuation order for area communities continues to be likely.
The Municipality of Red Lake says new Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry crews and more international support is arriving to assist with the threatening forest fire situation.
Crews from Atlantic Canada, Quebec, Mexico and Wisconsin have been arriving to support the Northwest region.
In their update this afternoon, the Municipality says Red Lake Fire 77 remains about 20 kilometers west of Madsen and Starratt-Olsen and still listed as not under control.
Growth to this fire is possible on the Northeast and western side, gaining potential momentum to join Red Lake fire 16.
With windy and extremely dry conditions persisting, smoke will become heavier at times
Kenora Fire 51 also continues to grow and is moving in a North and Northeast direction, mapped at over 114,000 hectares and not under control.
The MNRF teams continue to be very active on this fire.
Tonight, there is a chance of thunderstorms moving in from the North.
The rain predicted will be cellular in nature which in some areas could produce up to 15 millimetres.
Residents are reminded to be prepared if and when an evacuation is called.
If conditions change and or worsen, the Municipality and CKDR will provide further information.
