The forest fire situation is getting more and more volatile by the minute.
There were 29 new starts discovered Wednesday, with more reports yet to be investigated.
The Kenora sector remains a hot spot with 12 new fires.
The Red Lake region saw seven new starts, including one just 11 kilometres north of Pikangikum and another 16 kilometres west/southwest of North Spirit Lake.
The Sioux Lookout district recorded two new fires, including one located 14 kilometres northwest of Cat Lake First Nation.
There are 97 active fires in the northwest region and 39 are considered not under control.
Meantime, there was no real change with Red Lake 77 yesterday, but concerns remain that it will still merge with Red Lake 16, resulting in a 150,000-hectare blaze.
Fire 77 is located about 30 kilometres west of Red Lake and 20 kilometres from Madsen.
There still is no evacuation order in effect.
