The Municipality of Red Lake has issued a warning to local residents.
Red Lake Fire 77 is out of control at 1,200 hectares and is burning near Optic Lake about 35 to 50 kilometres west of the community.
The blaze is being closely monitored by the municipality and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.
A notice has been sent out to community members saying the fire doesn’t pose an immediate threat but there are concerns that if conditions continue to worsen and the fire approaches closer, officials may need to issue an evacuation notice as early as Wednesday.
An update is expected Monday afternoon around 3 o’clock.
