The City of Dryden is using provincial money to replace and fix traffic signals at eight intersections.
The $1,199,520 comes from the Connecting Link program.
Manager of Public Works Services Blake Poole says the work will be carried out on Duke Street (Highway 594) and Government Street (Highway 17).
Poole says the work will include the replacement of controllers, wiring, signal and pedestrian heads, detection loops/cameras and most poles, most of which are well past their end of life.
He adds the work will bring the traffic signals into compliance with the current provincial technical, regulatory, and legislative standards, including the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
Poole says the two year project is expected to start this Fall.
The municipality is responsible for only 10% of the costs.
The eight locations include:
-Highway 17 and Highway 594
-Highway 17 and Highway 601/Boozhoo Avenue
-Highway 17 and Marguerite Street
-Highway 594 and Memorial Avenue
-Highway 594 and Casimir Avenue
-Highway 594 and Van Horne Avenue
-Highway 594 and Earl Avenue
