The Chief Administrative Officer for the City of Dryden believes the future is bright for the community.
Roger Nesbitt says he’s proud of the work that’s been done over the past couple of years to get Dryden back on track financially.
“We’ve come through some pretty tough financial times, and I think we started down a path a few years ago of solid recovery and the entire organization, all the employees, have contributed to that. We have a really strong management team, and we have fantastic and dedicated front-line workers.”
Nesbitt notes staff and residents alike have had a lot to celebrate.
He says one of the major accomplishments is upgrades and renovations to the Memorial Arena and Rec. Centre.
“Steve Belanger and his team down at the Rec. Centre have to be really commended for the transformation that that facilities’ undergone under their work, under their direction, and under their vision. The Centre is looking fantastic.”
Nesbitt also credits the Dryden Recreation Extension And Modification Committee for their fundraising efforts.
“DREAM and their contribution to the community in raising money for the Rec. Centre. They should be extremely proud of themselves. Raised probably in excess of $540,000 now for the Rec. Centre. They’ve been a real force in the community, and it really does show that community pride.”
Nesbitt says staff can’t wait to fully reopen the building and show off the changes to residents and visitors.
Nesbitt adds another major step forward has been their work in reconciliation with the creation of the ‘Working Circle.’
“I think Council, the community, the Working Circle members, we can all be very proud of what that group represents, what they have accomplished and what they will accomplish going forward.”
He also applauded community volunteers and organizations for stepping up to improve quality of life in several areas.
The highlights are the cornerstone of a newly released and very comprehensive 2020 City of Dryden Annual Report for public viewing.
