Mayor and Council of the Municipality of Red Lake have made the decision to postpone Canada Day fireworks.
In a release, the municipality says “it is important that we reflect, mourn, and support our Indigenous friends, neighbours, and communities”.
The release goes on to say: “we ask that as a community we take this July 1st as an opportunity to reflect on how we can continue to build our community, and a better Canada”.
The City of Kenora has also announced postponing of their fireworks.
The City of Dryden did not have plans to have fireworks this year.
