Fire crews are making good progress on a now 430 hectare out of control forest fire about 3 kilometres northwest of Naicatchewenin First Nation in the Fort Frances District.
Officials say it is burning away from the community, which is not under threat at this time.
Waterbombers were used Thursday afternoon and some rain and lower wind speeds have helped in suppression efforts.
A State of Emergency has still been declared in the community due to smoke in the area and some families at risk have been moved to a hotel in Fort Frances.
There are 24 active fires in the northwest region and three are considered not under control.
One is a large blaze burning about 88 kilometres north of Sioux Lookout that has grown to 1,000 hectares in size.
Fire crews have had to deal with high winds and extreme conditions.
However, some relief has come with overnight rain Wednesday, lower wind speeds and higher humidity.
