Tragedy in the City of Dryden.
A 13 year old boy has been identified by a close family friend as the victim of an apartment fire at the Glenview Rentals complex on Clearwater Crescent Wednesday afternoon.
Evan Loyal Maio Wesley was home at the time the flames broke out and couldn’t escape.
Laura Semchyshyn says Evan was, “very energetic and well loved boy who loved to socialize and he absolutely loved Dryden and I mean he really did! Gayle and her family just got back from putting her brother into the ground and not even an hour later her house goes up and she loses her son! Her son always gave everyone a smile!”
She says everyone was trying to get in the room, but the smoke was so bad, it was like a swirling forest fire.
Semchyshyn notes it was a helpless feeling and young Evan eventually passed away.
Semchyshyn has set up a Help Gayle Wesleys Personal Emergency Fundraiser looking to raise money, clothing and food for the family.
She notes anything will help right now.
Semchyshyn stresses, “They are a very nice very polite and caring family that did not deserve this.”
The Dryden Fire Service is still investigating the cause and has not confirmed how many families were impacted by the blaze that claimed a life and caused considerable damage to the housing unit.
The victims family is now living in a hotel room but have lost everything.
