The Northwestern Health Unit says the province will decide if the window for the second dose of COVID-19 vaccines can be shortened.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kit Young Hoon says they are doing a good job of vaccinating local residents right now.
“The Ministry is monitoring the second dose rollout closely, I think they are doing some modelling,” explains Dr. Young Hoon.
“So if vaccine supply, there is enough vaccine to allow it, it could be that interval could be reduced from 16 weeks.”
Ontario Health Minister Christine Elliott says almost half of the population of the province, more than seven million people, have now received at least their first dose.
Starting today anyone over the age of 18 can now receive their shot.
