It’s still not known when kids will return to the classroom but no matter the date the provincial government has no plans to make COVID vaccines compulsory for students.
Health Minister Christine Elliott responded to the question earlier this week.
“Not at this moment, no, it has been a matter of choice if people wish to receive a vaccine. As you know many young people will require parental consent to have a vaccine or not.”
Elliott adds, “If the parents do not wish to have their son or daughter vaccinated, and that approval is required, it won’t be forced upon them. We encourage people very strongly to receive the vaccine as soon as it’s their time to protect themselves and their loved ones.”
