The Mercyhurst Lakers have honoured Dryden’s Geoff Kitt.
The 24-year-old has been named Top Defensive Forward for the Atlantic Hockey Association University Hockey team for the second straight year.
Kitt led the Lakers in both face-off percentage and attempts.
Team officials say he is a top pair penalty killer and usually matches up against opponents’ top lines.
He was an assistant captain this past season and recorded 3 goals, 6 assists, 9 points and was a plus 3.
Kitt has played in 88 games with Mercyhurst and collected 8 goals, 10 assists, 18 points and 30 penalty minutes.
He launched his playing career with the Thunder Bay Kings and also played in 29 games with the Kenora Under-18 Thistles.
Kitt also suited up in two games with the Dryden GM Ice Dogs in the 2013-2014 season.
The local star received the prestigious Arthur K Nielson Memorial Award with the Carleton Place Canadians of the Central Canadian Hockey League in 2018.
The honour is for a player who combines hockey excellence with academic success.
Kitt was also named 2017-2018 Canadian Junior Hockey RBC Scholastic Player of the Year.
