It’s no secret that this year has been a whirlwind of emotions, and we are all frustrated with the way things have been dealt with thus far and the way that things seem to be going.
But why all the hostility towards one another?
Both on social media and off, I’ve noticed more and more Canadians getting at each other’s throats over this whole ordeal – and it makes absolutely zero sense. From increased abuse to front-line workers to plate-shaming, and outright bullying, it’s not rocket science in understanding why we’re all feeling the way we do.
We’re all tired, anxious and stressed out about our current situation, and the last thing we should be doing is turning on each other for any reason – including difference in opinion.
I strongly believe that at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is that you do you.
I’m no expert… just a regular guy who is lucky enough to have a platform and to be able to talk to Sunset Country everyday. You might not agree with me and that’s okay, but I felt the need to express my thoughts on how things are being handled.
I don’t know what the solution looks like, but I hope we can go forward with a little bit more kindness and understanding.
My personal solution is controlling how much social media I take in on a daily basis. I’ve deleted the Facebook App from my phone and it’s probably the best thing I’ve ever done!
So my only words going forward is this…
If you have nothing nice to say to someone, it’s probably best to just keep quiet. We don’t know what others are going through right now, and I can tell you that by dishing out more negativity than necessary is only going to make you – and everyone else feel worse.
But hey, that’s just my two cents. Here’s the excerpt from this afternoon’s show:
