The MPP for Kiiwetinoong is calling for additional assistance for businesses impacted by the stay-at-home order.
Sol Mamakwa says it was clear the government wanted to invest and support small businesses before the shutdown.
However, he says now it appears post-shutdown is a different story.
“You can see it now and how it impacts. What has actually happened is, when they (the province) keep changing their plans, whether it’s half-shutdown or minimal shutdown, it’s actually hurting businesses and we’re hearing that repeatedly.”
Mamakwa stresses, “We have to look at livelihood of small businesses, especially in northern Ontario, and that they (government) may talk like that, but when you talk about action, action speaks louder than words. But there’s no action.”
He notes business owners can’t plan long-term because the rules keep changing.
