Brooke Lisa Blackmon November 25th 2002- April 3rd 2021
“There are some who bring a light so great to the world that even after they have gone, the light remains.” Miss Brooke Lisa Blackmon, beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin and friend was taken too soon at the age of 18.
Brooke was born on November 25th, 2002 in Sioux Lookout Ontario. She attended Ecole Catholique de l’Enfant Jesus and St. Joseph’s School in Dryden Ontario for her elementary years and went on to graduate from Dryden High School in 2020, with honours. She was attending The University of Western Ontario in London Ontario, studying kinesiology. She loved learning new things and was excited to pursue her education, even during a pandemic.
Brooke had a very close relationship with her brother, Joshua. She gave him sound “mother hen” advice and always had his back. It was the greatest brother/sister relationship ever. They spent lots of time together, enjoying family vacations or simply hanging out, playing games.
Brooke worked as a dance teacher at Stage Door studio in Dryden Ontario, where she inspired many young dancers to achieve their fullest potential. She was an excellent dancer and would devote hours to perfecting her art. Her classmates will always remember her determination: she had goals and would stop at nothing to achieve them. She adored travel, visiting places such as Greece, Scotland, Quebec City for Carnaval, Cuba, Florida and many other destinations. She had a love for travel and all things “adventure”.
Brooke is survived by her mother Natalie, her father Evan, her brother Josh, her grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins and many close friends.
Brooke is preceded in death by grandfather Daniel Maltais, great grandmother Marie Dupuis, uncle Steven Maki and cousin Braden Peters.
The family would like to thank all of their friends and family for supporting them during this terrible tragedy. Brooke would want to say this to you all, “I hope you dance.”
