“A page in our book of memories is gently turned today”
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, June Thelma McKim (Berry) on April 16, 2021 at the age of 91 years old.
Mom passed away peacefully at home with her daughter Karen and son in law Kory by her side in Sooke, British Columbia.
Kory was instrumental to the well being and the constant home care he provided to our mother. He was caring, kind and gentle to her needs as each year passed while she lived with them. Our family is forever grateful for the support he provided to our mom.
Mom was born in Windsor, Ontario. Her family would move to Eton Rugby, Ontario where they started on a homestead, eventually moving to the farm. Mom would attend school as a young girl in Eton Rugby. Eventually moving to Dryden to continue her education and work.
Mom was a very caring, loving, strong willed and patient woman. Always in her element when she was outside. She loved the outdoors very much and you could see this in her when you looked at her while outdoors. Enjoying all of the seasons. Spending time gardening, camping, walking or just sitting outdoors.
Her favorite and biggest passion was the endless hours both family and friends would spend cruising on Wabigoon Lake on the houseboat. Socializing, fishing, and swimming.
When the leaves would begin to turn mom would look forward to the many hours and trails, they would travel soon on the snow machines with friends and family. Both mom and dad (Doug) were long-time past members of the Power Toboggan Club.
June was a member of the local curling club where she enjoyed the many bonspiels that her and dad would compete in, spending time with team mates and friends.
Mom also love to cross country ski on most winter days you may have passed her and our dog Toby on a trail.
June is survived by her son Wayne (Lynnda) Calgary, daughter Karen (Kory) Sooke, BC. Ten Grandchildren and Eleven Great Grandchildren.
June loved being a Grandma and will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by each of her grandchildren. Grandma was always proud of their individuality and their many accomplishments.
Mom was pre-deceased by her loving husband Doug in 2006 of 56 years, her son Jeff in 2002 and her eldest daughter Debbie in 2018.
As per Junes wishes no formal service will take place. Cremation.
A celebration of Junes life will be held at a later date.
