Provincial Police are warning the public and businesses of fake Canadian currency that may be making the rounds in our region.
OPP say a fake $50 Canadian bill was used at a Fort Frances business Tuesday.
Police report they’ve recently intercepted bills that are thick paper not polymer, the translucent plastic was actually just tape, and in most cases the maple leaf on the left side wasn’t translucent, and not a hologram.
Officers also found bills where there are hash marks on the top right corner of the face side of the bill, or the corner may be just cut off.
