The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board is reporting a student at Valleyview Public School has tested positive for COVID-19.
The Northwestern Health Unit has directed the board to immediately close the impacted classroom.
The case is being followed up by health officials and all contacts are being called and given instructions.
The board is working with the health unit to make sure all potential risks are minimized.
Families who aren’t contacted directly by staff on Saturday afternoon, are deemed to be at no additional risk and can continue to attend school as usual.
For reasons of privacy, the board minimize sharing personal information about any case and encourage others to avoid identifying individuals.
All students and staff should use the Ontario School Screening Tool daily before attending school.
