Five community projects are set to receive funding from the Moffat Family Fund.
Dryden Treasurer Steven Lansdell-Roll says a local committee has approved $93,700 for the Dryden Food Bank, Dryden Library Board, Northwestern Health Unit Board and Making Connections for Children and Youth.
“City of Dryden is not directly involved in this. The Moffat Family actually came to the City of Dryden and asked that we facilitate this process on an annual basis.”
He adds, “No member of Council or anybody on City staff are part of that committee. It is a committee of the general public and they determine what proposals receive what.”
The Winnipeg-based foundation still needs to approve the allocations but traditionally it’s just a rubber stamp.
The projects include:
-Dryden Food Bank: Calcium Rich Products program $38,000
-Dryden Food Bank: Home Delivery initiative $4,500
-Northwestern Health Unit: School Nutrition program $25,000
-Dryden Library Board: Imagination Library and Space for Teens initiatives $17,200
-Making Connections for Children and Youth: Universal Rec program $8,500
