A spike in COVID-19 cases in the Sioux Lookout Health Hub area.
The Northwestern Health Unit confirms 13 new positive test results in the Sioux Lookout area and one in the Kenora area today.
Follow up with the persons involved and their contacts has started and anyone identified as a contact for these cases will be notified directly.
There are now 70 active cases of COVID-19 across the region, up from 61 Wednesday.
36 of those are in the Kenora area, 29 in the Sioux Lookout area, three in the Dryden area and one each in the Fort Frances and Atikokan areas.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit is reporting an decrease in their active cases.
Health officials report 40 new cases, which drops their active case count to 406.
The Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre reports 11 of the 41 patients that are being treated for coronavirus are in the Intensive Care Unit.
In Ontario there are 1,553 new cases and 15 deaths.
