After a weekend that saw a spike in new COVID-19 cases in the Kenora region, the Northwestern Health Unit says there were five new positive test results on Monday.
Two of the new positive cases are in the Rainy River district, while three are in the Kenora area.
According to the latest information from the NWHU, there are currently 59 active cases within their catchment area. 26 are in the Kenora area, 19 in the Sioux Lookout region, 8 in Dryden/Red Lake and 6 in the Rainy River district.
While the number of active cases is up to 59 (it was at 44 on Friday), the regional health authority says the number of resolved cases is now at 466 (up from 456 on Friday).
Since the start of the pandemic, the NWHU has seen 73,235 of the 73,760 COVID-19 tests conducted come back as negative, which means the positivity rate sits at 0.71 per-cent.
