The Premiers are calling on the Federal Government to increase spending on health care.
Premier Doug Ford, in his speech, highlighted what he called ‘shortfalls’ in long-term care funds.
“For every long-term care resident, Ontario provides $76 thousand each year and growing,” says Ford, “The Federal Government’s latest proposal would only provide $2,500. The math doesn’t work.”
Ontario’s Premier says they’d be able to do more if the funds were there.
“We could build beds faster…we could train an army of nurses and PSW’s that much sooner…Canadians can’t keep waiting for better healthcare.”
The Premiers want Ottawa to increase its share of health care spending to 35 per cent with an annual escalator of five per cent.
