Families in Red Lake, Ear Falls, and Kenora are being urged to sign-up today for the Early Years Arts Festival.
The four day event is hosted by the Kenora Catholic District School Board.
The annual festival is usually just one day but is being expanded to a virtual platform this year because of COVID-19.
The free sessions are every Sunday at 11:00 am for the month of March.
Early Years Coordinator Marnie Buffett was a guest on the CKDR Morning Show Thursday and she promised a great four days.
“Two of the artists from Red Lake actually sent me a recording of the activity they are planning on doing for the event and so my daughter and I decided to check it out and I can honostly say it was such a blast. The artists had us up and dancing and creating and we were laughing.”
Buffett says families who sign up will join local artists and musicians for a day of singing, drawing, dancing and even drumming.
She believes this is just what we need right now.
“The art is really interesting. It has kind of this wonderful way of connecting people and no matter how you feel before you start, you always feel so amazing by the end. And you know there’s a lot of research on that around what’s actually happening in the brain when you are participating in the arts.”
Buffett notes the first 150 children to register for an event will get a free arts supplies package for that event.
