Construction is set to start on more seniors apartments in Dryden this Spring.
Timberlands Estates President Jason Owen says they are proceeding with their second 24 unit apartment building on the site of the existing complex.
Owen says the new building will be basically a mirror image twin to the one opened on Van Horne Avenue a year ago.
“The success of Phase 1 just dictated the need in Dryden and the amount of people looking for a residence. So we’re progressing with Phase 2. Phase 1 came-in on-time, on-budget, and was a great success.”
The next phase of the project is also expected to include additional indoor parking and additional grass and bush areas.
Some of the apartments in the new building are already spoken for, and the Board is confident it will be fully occupied very quickly.
Travis Penner, representing the builder Bridge Road Construction, indicates that tenders for sub-trades are going out now he expects local contractors will be involved.
“We found the Dryden people very good to work with and are happy to come back again.”
Jason Owen says an order is expected to be placed within a few days for precast concrete piles and he anticipates activity on-site and breaking ground in early April.
The project is expected to be completed in May, 2022.
Owen notes, “Speaking on behalf of the Board, this will bring our total investment in Dryden up close to $17 million. We are very proud to have worked with local investors to fill this need for independent seniors housing in our community.”
