CKDR left the AM dial in Dryden in 2005. I think my hair also ‘left’ at that time….or at least more of it.
We’ve left behind so much in that time – moving ahead with improvements in all areas of life. Technology, medicine, and so many others that I’m sure you can think of and relate to.
Some things however resurface when you least expect them. Like this combination gem of fashion and technology that I dusted off this morning and wore to work! A jean dress shirt with the AM 800 CKDR logo on it!! And it still fits? What the?!
It and a few other surprises were rediscovered as my week off work was partly focussed on doing some early spring cleaning and purging – as directed by my wife. Now that I’m writing this I’m realizing that only my purging of personal things was done. Could this could be a sign of her being able to move me out easier later in life (or next week) if necessary?
Anyway thought I would share a couple of pictures of the vintage with you that I found and perhaps stir up a couple of memories for you of when your favourite radio signal in Northwestern Ontario came to you by way of the crackling AM dial. I was working with that air crackle in the late 80’s and 90’s. In the 20-20’s I of course haven’t worked with the radio signal crackle for quite some time. Now I just hear the crackle in my knees every time I bend. Perhaps you relate or even hear it when I’m on the air?
Things change and that’s ok – but remember the past. Do you remember AM 800 CKDR?! Do you remember my hair?
