The tourism industry needs some clarity.
That’s the feeling of Kenora MP Eric Melillo.
He says tourism outfitters don’t know what to expect this season.
“Right now it doesn’t feel like summer but in terms of the summer season for our small businesses, in particular tourism operators, that planning has already started, it’s well underway, so it’s imperative that we can get some transparency from the government, some information on what this season’s going to look like.”
Melillo says there is uncertainly about if the border will re-open and if people can visit if they have received the COVID-19 vaccine.
Melillo adds “There’s so many different questions that need to be answered. The government really has kept quiet with a lot of that. Something that we’ve been stressing the importance of. Something I’m going to be really focused on going forward because we need vaccines, we need rapid tests, and we need information if we’re going to overcome COVID-19.”
