The NDP want the commission looking at the Long Term Care system Ontario to have an extension.
Leader Andrea Horwath says the premier denied the extension at the end of last year.
“That’s unacceptable when the commission’s job is to find out what’s gone wrong in the governments’ response to long-term care,” says Horwath, “What we know is that at this point the government has been stonewalling (them) as much as possible.”
She says the premier has not testified before the commission as he said he would.
“There’s been no booking to our knowledge of Premier Ford to go before the commission and testify…that’s completely unacceptable. He promised the people of Ontario that he would testify and at this point, it looks like it won’t happen.”
The commission is expected to have its final report completed by the end of April.
