The Northwestern Health Unit is reporting a new case of COVID-19 in the Kenora region Wednesday.
There is also one positive test result from the Sioux Lookout district for a person who has a permanent residence outside of the region, but is currently located within the catchment area.
The health unit says it conducts contact tracing and monitoring of self-isolation for all cases, including anyone who is here temporarily or not currently identified as a permanent resident.
There is some good news on the COVID front as an outbreak at Rainycrest Long Term Care in Rainy River has now been declared over.
Three residents and one staff tested positive during the outbreak which began at the beginning of this year.
All of those cases are now resolved.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit is reporting 12 new cases and 16 resolved cases.
That brings the current number of active cases in the region to 146.
Meantime, Ontario is reporting 1,670 new cases of the coronavirus, the third day in a row cases are below 2,000.
It’s the lowest increase in daily cases since November 26 when 1,478 new cases were reported.
Forty-nine more deaths were reported.
