City staff are holding out hope that provincial lockdowns will be lifted next month and they will be able to reopen the Dryden Memorial Arena.
The ice on Rink 2 has been removed but Rink 1 will remain available to all user groups for the time being.
If the facility is able to reopen, adult and senior curling will move over to Rink 1.
All user groups have indicated a desire to keep going and even extend their season by up to 5-6 weeks to make up for lost time they have encountered since the initial shutdown on December 26.
Cost cutting measures have taken place including a no seasonal or part-time staff, limited heating in the building and the refrigeration unit working as little as possible.
The frigid weather has also helped arena staff maintain the ice at reduced costs.
Staff in Red Lake are also holding off for now on a decision with the Cochenour Arena.
Both Dryden and Red Lake officials indicate they are closely monitoring things on the provincial level and are expected to discuss options closer to February 10.
The provincial stay at home order is scheduled to expire on February 9.
