Local municipalities are getting some financial help to fix aging infrastructure.
The province is making a $200-million dollar investment through the 2021 Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund.
Premier Doug Ford says this will help 424 small, rural and northern communities build and repair roads, bridges, as well as water and wastewater systems.
“These are projects that create local jobs, support local businesses and suppliers and improve the overall quality of life for people living in the communities. All of these things are critical to a strong recovery for communities in rural Ontario.”
Ford adds the government recognizes that municipalities need flexibility to support their own priority infrastructure needs.
Ford made the announcement at the Rural Ontario Municipal Association Conference Monday.
