The results are in as the Dryden Trillium Lions Club ‘Plastic Bag Challenge’ has officially wrapped-up.
Lions member Kathy Doherty says they challenged area schools in September to collect plastic bags and says it was a tight race.
St. Joseph’s School took the top spot with 18,650 bags.
Open Roads School followed in second place with 17,970 bags and New Prospect School in third with 14,160 bags.
Overall, roughly 50,780 plastic bags were collected.
Doherty also thanks the public, who dropped off plastic bags at area schools to help keep plastic bags out of the landfill.
