Another spike in COVID-19 cases Friday in the Northwestern Health Unit catchment area.
The District of Rainy River is reporting four new cases and one probable case, while one positive case is listed in the Kenora area.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kit Young Hoon says there is also a case in the Dryden/Red Lake region but that person’s home address is outside the catchment area.
There are now 28 active cases in the region.
Province-wide another 2,998 cases and 100 deaths were reported Friday.
Dr. Kit Young Hoon reminds people that a ‘Stay at Home’ order is now in place across Ontario.
“No one should leave their house unless it’s for essential reasons; Going to the grocery store or pharmacy, accessing health care services, getting exercise, or going to work where the work can not be done remotely.”
She adds there are new restrictions as part of the State of Emergency:
-Only five people can gather outdoors and they must wear masks if not 2 metres apart unless they are from the same household
-No one should gather indoors with anyone outside their household (Someone who lives alone can join one other household exclusively)
-Students in Grades 1-3 are required to wear masks at school
-All students must wear masks outside at recess if they can’t guarantee they will stay two metres apart from others.
