Nashville is under a state of civil emergency.
An RV exploded in downtown Nashville on Christmas morning and police say it was intentional.
At a press conference, Chief of Police for Metro Nashville, John Drake said the RV had a prerecorded message before the explosion.
“Saying that it was going to detonate within a certain time frame and the countdown would go on and it would play music and the countdown would start again,” Drake explains.
Drake says brave officers in the area worked quickly to get residents to a safe location.
“Officers immediately began knocking on doors and evacuating residents here, not knowing if the bomb was going to detonate immediately or if it was going to go off in the time that was stated,” he adds.
Three injuries have been reported.
Police say they found tissue that could be human remains but they need to be examined further to determine a connection.
41 Nashville businesses were damaged and the explosion was felt nine blocks away.
The FBI and Metro Nashville Police Department continue to investigate.
