A member of the Northwestern Ontario Associated Chambers of Commerce believes the upcoming two week lockdown will be a mixed bag for local businesses.
Charla Robinson says “Right after Christmas until New Years and once school goes back, it’s kind of a quieter time for many businesses, so I’m hopeful that the impacts on their revenues won’t be as significant as it would have been if they’d done this a few weeks ago.”
She is hoping that local businesses will be able to bounce back.
Robinson points out many establishments know the ropes thanks to the previous shutdown.
“I think that the more challenging point will be for those businesses that maybe haven’t got those systems in place.”
Robinson says she’s hopeful this lockdown will help the area return to a green level under the province’s framework.
The lockdown includes bans on indoor and outdoor dining and lowers limits for grocery stores and supermarkets.
