The Chief of the Dryden Fire Service is thanking the community for everything as he gets set to leave.
Rob Grimwood has accepted a job with the City of Vaughn as Deputy Fire Chief.
In the final Council meeting of the year, Grimwood stated “This has been an incredible experience. You have a wonderful City with wonderful people who were very welcoming to me. Made this such a challenging decision that I struggled with. Your fire department here is so well positioned.”
Grimwood adds “You have exceptionally dedicated and skilled firefighters. This has been one of the highlights of my career, is seeing this fire department totally engaged in the last 12 months and train as hard or harder than I’ve ever seen firefighters train.”
He stresses his members embraced new ideas, new tactics and new equipment and this Fire Department is something the community can be proud of and count on.
“The community is in very, very good hands and the department’s in good hands and it’s a great team.
Grimwood states “It was absolutely my privilege and my pleasure to have been a part of it and part of my heart will always be in the City of Dryden. I can’t say enough good things about this City.”
He was hired in August 2019 and will be replaced by current Deputy Chief Kent Readman.
The veteran of 25 plus years stresses he will be available at any time to assist the City with any fire related concerns or problems.
