The 2021 Scotties Tournament of Hearts is not on Thunder Bay’s Krista McCarville’s radar.
The championship curler says COVID-19 means she and her rink will not make any attempt to play towards getting to the Calgary tournament.
“The biggest decision was basically just making sure I’m being safe with my family and I’m also a teacher so I have students and their families to think about,” explains McCarville.
The teams in Calgary will be playing in a ‘bubble’ and while she says “It looks secure and safe for all the curlers, you have to get through some of the major airports to get there.”
McCarville hopes to compete in the Canadians Women’s Curling Championship when it comes to Thunder Bay in 2022.
It breaks our hearts to share that our team will be declining the invitation to represent Northern Ontario at the Scotties. There were tears as we made this decision because we love the Scotties (1/6)
