Plans are underway to reopen the Dryden Youth Centre.
Programming resumed briefly last summer after a six year hiatus with overwhelming success.
Henry Wall is the Chief Administrative Officer with the Kenora District Services Board and says they have received $99,964 from the province to make their dream a reality.
Wall says the funding will revitalize the centre with much needed equipment, computers, workstations and renovations.
He notes a lot of work has already been done inside and outside the old Children’s Resource Centre on Albert Street.
Wall stresses this will bring them to the next phase of what they had first envisioned the Youth Centre was going to be.
The Youth Centre reopening is a joint effort between the KDSB, City of Dryden and Dryden Police Service with support from the province under the Anti-Human Trafficking strategy.
There is no timeline on reopening but Wall says he hopes to see some sort of soft and safe opening during the recovery of the pandemic in the new year.
