The Medical Officer of Health for the Northwestern Health Unit is commending our region for helping limit the spread of COVID-19.
Even though the fight against COVID-19 isn’t over yet, Dr. Kit Young Hoon says the public’s actions in following public health measures is a big part of keeping our cases low.
In an open letter, Young Hoon stresses public safety remains their top priority.
While she’s encouraged to see very few cases in our catchment area, Young Hoon says it’s no time to let our guard down.
Young Hoon explains just because there are low cases does not mean there is zero risk when it comes to COVID-19.
As the health unit recently did with the Kenora region, Young Hoon reassures if and when case numbers are increase significantly to suggest a higher risk or community transmission,
the public will be informed.
The number one reminder from the health unit continues to be: assume COVID-19 is in your community and be COVID-Kind to one another.
The health unit adds this message is not meant to induce fear, but to promote and encourage safety.
