The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry wants to remind hunters that shooting across a road is both dangerous and illegal.
Three men from southern Ontario have been slapped with fines totalling $10,000 for shooting a moose calf during the closed season.
The incident happened in October, 2018 in the area of Silver Dollar on Highway 599, north of Ignace.
One of the men forced the animal into the ditch and one of the hunters shot across the road twice killing the calf
The animal was left in the ditch alongside the highway.
Ralph Rende of Kilworthy has been fined over $5,000 and Gennaro Genovase of Toronto was fined over $3,000.
A third man, Anthony Pansino of New Lowell has been fined $750 for making a false statement.
