The Medical Officer of Health for the Thunder Bay District Health Unit says she’s working with provincial officials on the next steps in COVID-19 restrictions.
The area is at the Yellow-Protect level but is dealing with 93 active cases, including an outbreak at a Long Term Care Home.
Dr. Janet DeMille says the numbers are concerning.
“We continue to follow up very comprehensively on every case that we have. Working with every individual who has COVID-19 to really try to contain the spread in our area.”
DeMille says moving to Orange-Restrict is a real possibility for next week if there is no substantial improvement in numbers this week.
“Our indicators are at the Orange level at least. So we will have to see. I am involved in those conversations with the Ministry and the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health when they are reviewing the numbers.”
Premier Doug Ford has traditionally announced updated restrictions during his Friday briefing.
