The Northwestern Health Unit has updated its COVID-19 numbers.
Officials Tuesday morning are reporting two new cases in the Dryden/Red Lake region and one in the Kenora area.
A positive case was also reported 24 hours earlier in the Kenora area.
One of positive cases comes from Open Roads Public School in Dryden.
The Health Unit is working closely with the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board to minimize the impact in the school community and the school remains open to those who have not been identified by as close contacts and told to self-isolate.
For privacy reasons specific information isn’t released by health officials.
Coronavirus numbers continue to rise across northwestern Ontario with Manitoba now locked down.
In the Northwestern Health Unit catchment area there have been 90 cases since the pandemic started in March.
There are two probable cases and nine are considered active.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit is reporting 41 active cases.
Since the start of the pandemic the district has compiled 165 cases.
Medical Officer Dr. Janet DeMille is pleading with everyone to make tough sacrifices.
“What we have might got done in any other year, we will not be able to do this year. However, we can look forward to a better spring and summer next year.”
She compares the COVID-19 numbers to a hockey game.
“We were leading after the first period. But this virus has upped its game and we need to up our game.”
In Minnesota, there are five new cases in Koochiching County.
There are now close to 70 active cases in the County.
Five new cases are in Lake of the Woods County, where as many as 15 cases are active.
