Richard McLeod
September 24, 1945 – November 5, 2020
In loving memory of Richard McLeod who passed away unexpectedly at his residence at the age of 75.
Richard is survived by his wife Linda, children; Lori (Tim), Christopher (Lisa), Jonathon (Ariana), Amber (Ray), Patrick, Elizabeth (Dan), Carrie, Alan and Kate, grandchildren; Kyle (Tianna), Tanya (Chris), Ian, Lisa (Robert), Nicholas, Dante, David, Shawn, Anthony and Dominic, great-grandchildren; Logan, Autumn, Willow, Kaiden, Brae and Aavlynn, siblings Philip (Crystal) and Mary (Allen), father-in-law Allan Olson, brother-in-law Sigurd (Judy) Olson, sister-in-law Nola Hill (Howard) , close friends, who lovingly called him “Tricky Ricky”; Bill “Rebel Red” and Marlene, Moe “Moe Magoo” and Lori, Jim, Dennis, Gaillan (Jackie), Wayne, James, Hillman, Mary, Jimmy, Russ, Dallas and Tammy and Andy as well as numerous nieces and nephews and his furbabies; Gabby, Vicky, Bear and Mya.
Richard is predeceased by his parents Mary and Kenneth McLeod, mother-in-law Mary Olson, brother Ken McLeod and close friends; Jim, Mike, Charlie and Marty.
Richard was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario then moved to Dinorwic at a young age and attended school in Wabigoon and then Dryden High. He joined the military in 1965 in Vancouver, BC. He had many opportunities to travel in the military. Serving his first tour in Cyprus followed by CFB Gagetown, NB, CFB Rockcliffe, ON then CFB Esquimalt, BC where he retired at 38 after serving 20 years. He remained at the reserve driving tanks and finally became a dental assistant. After his military service he returned to a place he called home which was Pine Sunset Camp in Dinorwic, ON where he became a co-owner/operator with Bruce Robertson. He enjoyed being outdoors and would often be out fishing. He also had a way of calling the Eagles to come get the leftover fish and they always came!
Richard had a kind heart and was always there for anyone in need.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at 1 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 63 (downstairs).
Interment will take place at a later date.
