It’s a new look Red Lake Miners team this season.
Head Coach and General Manager Geoff Walker says “We went a little younger this year. It wasn’t really by design. We had to trade a couple of 20-year-old defenceman who were on our team last year because the young guys came in and played really well. So we’re young. We’re fast.
Walker says they’ve had a couple of good weeks of practice and are looking forward to actual competitive action.
“You kind of take this game for granted sometimes when it was taken away from us. So from our side I know that there is a lot of excitement. There’s a lot of new blood in the room and we’re super excitement with how the team looks.”
Walker adds with a fairly new team, renewing the rivalry with Dryden GM is a great way to start.
“Obviously it’s hard to tell when we haven’t had any games yet but we should have a better read on where we’re at (this weekend). But there’s a lot of excitement around this team and we’re really excited about the recruiting. We hit on a couple of really good players and we’re super excited about that.”
