Dryden’s first Fall Fest is in the books and being called a huge success.
From Harvest Hay Day to the Laura Howe Haunt, Organizer Laina Smith says there was incredible support all three weekends.
“We are just so proud of our community and can’t believe the reception we received this year. We feel honoured that our events were just so appreciated. We had over 30 thousand pieces of candy donated. We had almost a thousand dollars dropped into our donation jars and over 25 hundred attendees.”
Smith stresses none of the festival would have been possible without the volunteers and community organizations.
“At the Harvest Hay Day, we had 18 vendors and with Just G’s there, providing food by donation which raised 4 hundred dollars and then donated it to It’s A Dog’s Life. At the Laura Howe Haunt, it was only made possible by the 19 actors in the Marsh, along with the army of volunteers it took to run that event.”
Even cold temperatures, 70km wind gusts and snow didn’t impact the turnout on the final night of the festival.
“We had 21 trunks manned by local businesses and organizations. It was made possible by all the true grit volunteers who braved the terrible weather for the kids.”
One thousand 7 hundred and 77 costumed candy seekers came out to the Trunk or Treat event on Halloween night.
With the overwhelming support and positive community response, Smith is excited to say the first Dryden Fall Fest won’t be the last.
“If anyone has constructive feedback for us, you can message us on social media or if you go to our webpage there’s a form you can fill out to email us your thoughts. We are looking forward to 2021!”
Smith says from volunteers, to community partners, local businesses and a dedicated committee, all efforts contributed to the success of Dryden’s first Fall Fest.
