Watching area wildlife can be amazing.
Watching area wildlife attempting to enter a business building is even more amazing!!
Late yesterday afternoon was one of those times. My youngest daughter and I went to Tim Hortons on the highway in Dryden. Parked. Put our covid-masks on and entered the building.
It wasn’t busy so we grabbed the only booth close to the exit. Even before we sat down a feathered friend appeared out of nowhere outside the Exit door and stayed there for a good ten minutes or so. Looking in from the outside.
I asked one of the staff if they had noticed the curious bird. They had and said that they would absolutely not let the potential customer come in without being able to pay for its bill. I didn’t understand. I thought the bird was born with its beak? It had to pay for it?? Bill. Beak. Never mind.
We continued to watch the feathered pacer who we are sure was still attempting to find a way inside the restaurant! At one point I felt sorry for the bird who kept looking in through the door and thought I should let it in. It needed help. After all it had no hands. But wait! Look at the pictures. The bird was lined up outside the Exit door not the Entry door. There was no way I was going to open that door and let it in – I’m not that…..’gull’-ible. Besides that I didn’t see any evidence that the bird was prepared to wear a mask once inside.
My daughter and I finished up, grabbed a couple of Tim-bits and headed out of the building. The bird was still there and received its reward from us. It got the reward because not once did it squawk or complain about the service. It’s patience had paid off.
Sea-the-gull. Be the gull. Be a customer like that and I might toss a Tim-bit or 2 your way as well.
Remember….no ‘squawking’. And if you need help finding the right door….I’ll be there for you.
