The township of Ear Falls has officially opened their new Splash Pad Park to the public.
The project cost $258 thousand dollars and with help from a $137,900 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation last Fall, the project is ready for long term activity in the community.
Ear Falls Mayor Kevin Kahoot says the project will make a positive impact for all Ear Falls community members.
“Our community is very excited to see the addition of this new, outdoor recreation facility. This project in line with out Parks and Playgrounds Plan will help keep Ear Falls as a place that families and business are proud to call home. This has been possible because of the support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation and the Township’s Community Well-Being Fund.”
The Ontario Trillium Foundation is an agency of the Government of Ontario and one of Canada’s leading granting foundations, who awarded $115 million dollars to 644 projects last year to build healthy and vibrant communities in Ontario.
MPP for Kiiwetinoong, Sol Mamakwa was at the Splash Pad site on Friday.
“Congratulations to the Township of Ear Falls on the completion of their splash pad. Children can enjoy the water and families will be able to spend more outdoor time together in Ear Falls. It’s a great investment towards the health and recreation of the community.”
The goal of the project is to foster more active lifestyles and encourage physical activity.
The Splash Park is located at 2 Willow Crescent.
