The Northwest Catholic District School Board is ready to reopen schools.
Director of Education Brendan Hyatt says “We have a reopening committee that has been working hard over the last couple of months to make sure that we put things in place to support health and safety for our staff and our students and to hopefully put parents minds at ease that they can send their children back and that they would be safe and we will do everything we can to support them in that.”
Hyatt stresses there are several measures intended to keep students and staff safe.
“They’ll notice that there is signage all over the school that encourages them to do things like social distancing, washing hands frequently, practicing good hygiene, limiting their interaction with other folks. There will be schedules for hand washing the teacher will have to work on with them.”
Hyatt says there will also be a lot more cleaning taking place and additional staff brought on to perform that.
He is confident that they’re doing everything asked of them that keeps students and staff safe.
